Lets go to the beach!

Waking up early on a Sunday morning to go to the beach in Santa Marinella was one of the best decisions I made on this trip. We got off the train with almost fifty others who were all heading to the same beach. It was no surprise when we got to the beach and that it was completely packed with people in their swimsuits, all sun bathing under umbrellas. After walking around for five minutes, we finally found a couple of umbrellas to sit under only to find out they were already reserved.
One thing you must know when you plan to go to the beach in Italy    is that the beaches are divided into private and public beaches; hence, to be able to sit under umbrellas and use the private beach, you need to get to the beach really early and pay a hefty price. Unfortunately for us, we had gotten to the beach a bit too late to grab a spot on the private beach. As a result, we had to move to the public beach

The public beach isn’t really what you would call an ideal beach. There was no sand, only rocks to sit on, and no way you could walk into the water without stepping on a several sharp sea creatures. After we settled ourselves down on the hard rocks, we slowly ventured into the water and sneakily made our way into the private part of the beach. After an exciting but long week in the city, relaxation finally hit me as we found ourselves sitting on a sandbar 100 meters out. Sadly, after almost an hour of this the ominous weather decided it was time for us to head back to the shore.

Italy has meant a lot to me; there is an incredible amount of stuff to do and experience here.  From some of the world’s finest history, to its greatest food and to its most beautiful horizons, I have found that Italy is one of my most favorite places in the world.
